Olympics: Every 2 Years?

Should the Olympics be held every 2 years with each sport holding its own world championship the years in between the Olmypics? After all, most athlete's careers are not that long and it would give them more shots at Olympic medals while they are at their peak. I know it would make the Olmpics a little less special, however, it seems unfair to work most of the first half of your life for a difficult task and only get 1 or 2 shots at accomplishing this goal.

Looking outside the sports aspect of the Olympics, I don't think it makes sense to have the Olympics more frequently. The cities that host the Olympics take years and years and spend large amounts of money preparing for the event. In order for this to pay off, they need to attract a very large fan base. If the Olympics were held every other year, the number of attendees would probably shrink, the interest would diminish somewhat meaning the networks wouldn't spend as much money on them and the games themselves would diminish.

Also, we'd need to consider the effects of spending less money on them. How do we know that security wouldn't be something to suffer? After all, there have already been infamous incidents related to security, most notably in Munich and Atlanta. Just another thing to consider.

I think that Olympics should be held after every 2 years. As we all know that Athletes career is very short. I agree that if Olympics is held every year,the number of attendance of fans will be decreased which will affect the Olympics popularity and revenue. But we should also try to think from Athlete's points of view.
